The Oscar Wilde classic The Importance of Being Earnest is extending its run at Broadway’s American Airlines Theatre by 17 weeks. The Roundabout Theatre Company production, which opened on January 13, 2011, was originally scheduled to shutter on March 6.
The extension means some shuffling for the Roundabout, which had planned to begin previews of the new musical The People in the Picture, starring Donna Murphy and directed by Leonard Foglia, at the American Airlines on April 1. The world premiere show will instead play Studio 54, where it will begin previews on April 1 and open on April 28, as previously announced.
Earnest, directed by and starring Brian Bedford, will now run until July 3 at the American Airlines Theatre.
